Aqaba (Petra) / Jordan
Aqaba is the only port of Jordan, although the city itself only has about 50,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Red Sea and was already in ancient times significant for trade.
The city is visited by tourists because it has very good diving conditions. The coral reefs are nature protected.
Of course, it is ideal to start a dive in this city. There are also beautiful white beaches, crystal clear water, and thus simply swimming or snorkeling here is a pleasure, likewise is sunbathing. But any other water sport is also possible here.
But there is also a historic landmark in Aqaba, namely the Mameluk Fort, a former castle that was rebuilt in the 16th century. Also nearby an ancient city is being dug. A museum informs about the history of the city and presents interesting findings.
