Arutua, Tuamotu Archipelago / Polynesia

Arutua is an atoll Atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago belonging to the Îles Palliser. Its name means translated as much as "wave of the high seas". As first European, the Dutch navigator Jacob Roggeveen discovered the atoll. Today about 800 people live on Arutua, the majority of them in the main settlement Rautini.

The beautiful large lagoon Arutua which opens via a small passage to the sea, is used by the inhabitants, among other things for fishing and pearl farming. Spend a glorious day on the beautiful beaches of Arutua and in the evening attend one of the meetings with dances, songs and stories that bring you the life and culture of the inhabitants of the atoll closer in an exciting way.
