The city of Baden-Baden is a world-famous spa town in the west of Baden-Württemberg at the northern edge of the Black Forest. Already the Romans appreciated the hot springs of the settlement and at the end of the 18th century Baden-Baden was discovered as elegant spa. Many stately guest relaxed here and in the course of the 19th century many luxury hotels, the casino and the spa building were built.
The resort with the famous Casino Baden-Baden is architectural and social center as well as landmark of the city. In Bäderviertel there is the modern Caracalla Spa, the historic Friedrichsbad as well as the Roman bath ruins. Baden-Baden offers in addition to the health spa business also an impressive cultural offering. The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden is the second largest concert hall in Europe and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic belongs to the most traditional orchestras in Germany. From Franz Liszt to Placido Domingo, the musical world leaders met on the historical stages of the city. Baden-Baden offers in addition to musical highlights also several interesting art museums and is known for its international horse races that have taken place since the 19th century.
