Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and both in political as well as in cultural and economic terms its center.
Copenhagen is one of the most important cities in Northern Europe and is one of the most beautiful and most visited cities. The city is located on the second largest island in Denmark, was first mentioned in the 12th century and has a turbulent history behind it. Times and again there have been were epidemics, disasters and wars that decimated both the buildings as well as the residents.Today about 500,000 inhabitants live in Copenhagen.
The landmark of Copenhagen is the Little Mermaid. Gladly visited is the amusement park Tivoli opposite the main railway station.Worth seeing is also the town hall built in the Renaissance style, with many sculptures, the Botanical garden, the St.Peter's Church and of course the Christiansborg Castle between the pedestrian zone and the Inderhavn. It has been the seat of parliament since 1918.
