Fremantle (Perth) / Australia
Fremantle was in the early 19th century the capital of west Australia. For many immigrants, the harbour city was the gate into the Land "Down Under". This way, Fremantle developed to a multicultural city. Fremantle is popular for its market. A different experience is the prison of Fremantle that was occupied until 1991 and attests of inhumane confinement, there is a 90 minutes' night tour to see it. Also worth seeing is the Fremantle Museum as well as the Western Australian Maritime Museum.
