Ishigaki / Japan

Ishigaki is the southernmost city in Japan. It lies on the same island in the Pacific. She has a long history and the last battle of the Pacific War took place here in World War II . Although the city itself, does not offer many attractions it is the tourist center of the island. Around the port there is bustling activity. Here the life of the city mainly takes place.

From the harbour stretch out towards the city several streets flanked by different shops, where you can buy souvenirs or items of daily use or  where you can enjoy a nice meal. If you have more time to spare climb up the Banna Dake, a nearby moderately-high mountain wherefrom you have a breathtaking view of the island. Another attraction worth seeing which is not far from the city of Ishigaki is the Fusaki Kannon-Do temple built in 1701. Kaiyo Monzoku in the Nagura Bay is a village with several museums.By bus it can bereached in less than half an hour. The beaches offer you the possibility to bathe in the Pacific Ocean.
