Kailua-Kona is a place at the eastern Kona Coast of the main island of the Hawaiian Archipelago. Thousand of men and women annually meet there to choose the queen or king of the probably most famous triathlon in the world. The Ironman is the longest distance covered regularly in the triathlon. It consists of a 3. 8 -km swimming distance, a 180-km-long bicycle ride and a running distance of 42 ,195 m, directly following one another. Even the world-famous windsurfer Robby Naish also had contact with the board and waves for the first time in Kailua. Ever since it has been a Mecca for wind and kite surfers.
A stroll through the village is always worthwhile and even a hike on the triathlon running route. Aloha - sandy beaches, turquoise waters and sunshine almost 365 days a year, spray the famous Hawaiian feeling.
