Kingscote, Kangaroo Island / Australia
The Kangaroo Island is the third largest island of Australia. It is located 112 kilometers south-west of Adelaide in the Gulf of St Vincent, 13 kilometers from the coast at the top of the Fleurieu Peninsula in the federal state of "South Australia", is 145 km long and between 900 meters and 57 kilometers wide.
Kingscote is the island's capital with about 1500 inhabitants.About one third of the island is a nature reserve. The largest National Park is Flinders Chase. The remaining area of the island is dominated by agriculture. It produces wine, honey, wool, meat and cereal. Worth seeing on the island are in addition to the Flinders Park Kelly Hill Caves, the huge sand dunes on the south coast (Little Sahara) and the lookout Mount Thisby with his 360 -degree grand island panorama.
