Kyauk-Myoung / Myanmar
In cental Asia is the former British colony of Burma, since 1989 officially called Myanmar. Myanmar is regarded as a world center of Buddhism. Countless temples and pagodas bear witness to the 2,500 year-old culture. The Irrawaddy (total length 2,100 km) is the lifeline of Myanmar.
Kyauk-myong is a small town on the Irrawaddy. Famous are the potteries, where the spectacular 50-gallon water pots are made.
