La Valletta / Malta
Valletta is the capital of Malta. Although the city itself has only 15,000 inhabitants ithas almost seamlessly grown together with about 25 surrounding cities and towns. The metropolitan area Valletta is home to more than a third of the Maltese (150,000 inhabitants).
Valletta is the transportation hub of Malta. With "Valletta Grand Harbour", the city offers a thriving Mediterranean port. A bustling pedestrian street with souvenir shops, boutiques and fashion chain stores are found in Valletta as well as universities, museums, embassies and ministries. La Valletta, a UNESCO world heritage site, also invites you to visit the ceremonial church of San Giovanni and the Grand Master Hospital of the Order of St.John from the 16th century.
