Lauffen / Germany
The Franconian city of Lauffen on the Neckar is located in the district of Heilbron in Baden-Württemberg. It has about 11,000 inhabitants and is located about 15 km south of the county town Heilbronn. The federal state capital city of Stuttgart is 50 km away.
Lauffen is known mainly as the birthplace of the poet Johann Christian Friedrich Hölderlin and for its multiple award-winning wines. You can see besides the castle from the 11th century the old Heilbronn Gate with medieval prison above the archway. Not far from Lauffen, located on a hillside, is a Roman estate, which can be reached via the vineyard road. Moreover from Lauffen you are offered, among others, very beautiful bike rides to Tripsdrill.
