Manta (Quito) / Ecuador
Manta is a port city (about 200,000 inhabitants) on the Pacific coast of Ecuador. It is located in the province of Manabí and has existed since the time before the Spanish conquest. The most important economic activity is tuna fishing. Other industries are tourism as well as the chemical industry.
Manta undoubtedly has some of the most impressive beaches in South America including Tarqui and El Murcielago, the Bat Beach The area is well-known for diving and fishing. The original Panama hats, which are made in a suburb of Manta (Montechristi), are known all over the world. Manta is also known for its delicious cuisine - special treats are seafood. If time permits,you should visit the Museum of the Central Bank.
