Moselkern / Germany
Moselkern is a small town (about 700 inhabitants) at the mouth of the Elzbaches in the Moselle in the district Cochem-Zell in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The town hall of Moselkern is the oldest town hall on the Moselle.
A duplicate of the Merovingian cross found in Moselkern is located on the forecourt of the church. It is so far the oldest Christian symbol found north of the Alps.
In the immediate vicinity of the village is the castle Eltz, which for many years appeared on the 500 DM bill.
