Nuku'Alofa is located in the South Seas and is the capital of Tonga. The city has about 23,000 inhabitants and is located just a few centimeters above sea level.
The name of the city stands for the bulging life. Here on this tranquil Southern Sea Island is everything the tourist wants. Long, white sand beaches but also some Caribbean bars. The locals are open to any visitor. The main attraction is the royal palace made of Norfolk pines. In the city is also the only one-way street in Tonga (Railway Road), the Vuna shipyard. Royal tombs and numerous churches, including the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua and the Centenial Church are a must for holidaymakers.
The city offers the only notable nightlife of Tonga and has the only cinema in the country. The urban rugby stadium is reminiscent of Western civilization.
