The small village Pillnitz belongs to Dresden and is located on the Elbe. You will reach the village via a jetty at the foot of the famous Pillnitz Castle. And of course the visit to the castle with its park is a must as is the vineyard church and the famous camellia.
The castle includes the main building, as well as a water and a mountain palace. The buildings date back to the 17th century and are beautiful. The main building now houses an interesting museum. The outside of the castle impresses with elaborate water games. There is also the Chinese Pavilion with exotic plants and an orangery. Not far from the castle, a walk through the vineyards will take you to the vineyard church. It was built by the architect Pöppelmann, as was the castle and the Dresden Zwingern. In addition, the famous camellia, which is over 200 years old today, attracts visitors to the castle grounds. To round up the visit, you can then stop at one of the restaurants.
