Stralsund / Germany
Stralsund (about 70,000 inhabitants) is surrounded by many canals and ponds on the east coast opposite the island of Rügen. As a city with a significant past, Stralsund offers a wide range of buildings from different eras. A walk through the old town, which is located on an islet, will always take you back to extraordinary sights. And, moreover, Stralsund is also an excellent seaside resort.
One of the most important buildings in Stralsund is surely the town hall in Gothic style, which is so typical for northern Germany. To the east is the Nikolai ]Church, also Gothic with an extravagant interior. To the south you can quickly reach the remains of the old town fortifications like the Blue Tower Bastion.
There are also museums in Stralsund, of course: in a former monastery there is the sea museum with some aquariums and the cultural history museum. You can also relax on the beaches of the area. Stralsund is really a nice place.
