Suva, Viti Levu / Fiji
Suva is the capital of the Fiji Islands. It lies on the largest island, namely Viti Levu, on the east coast. Viti Levu is of volcanic origin. Due to the largest elevation of the island, the Mount Victoria, and the trade winds, the area is moist and Suva is surrounded by lush rainforest. Suva has about 80,000 inhabitants and the most important (natural) port of the island.
Suva often serves as a starting point for trips. Hikes through the enchanting and boisterous rainforest are possible, but south of Suva there are also pretty places wherefrom you can take hikes along the "Coral Coast". But even in the city itself there is much to experience. The Fiji Museum is one of the best museums on the island at all. Buildings worth seeing are the Parliament and ,moreover, there are two markets: the colorful city market and a craft market.
