Vila / Vanuatu
The island state of Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides) is located in the South Pacific (Melanesia). Vanuatu is made up of 82 islands of volcanic origin that reach heights of up to 1800 m and are mostly covered by tropical rainforest. The capital, Port Vila, is located on the island of Éfaté. Particularly noteworthy is the active volcano Mt. Yasur on the island of Tanna, as well as the Manaro on the island of Aoba.
The cultural center in the capital, Port Vila, on Efaté, is one of the most extensive collections of Pacific finds in the world. The water sports options in Vanuatu seem almost inexhaustible.
