Zihuatanejo (Ixtapa) / Mexico
Zihuatanejo is located on the Mexican Pacific coast about 240 kilometers northwest of Acapulco. Until the early 1970s, Zihuatanejo was a sleepy fishing village with a handful of families as residents and has retained the old-fashioned charm of traditional Mexican culture.
The main attraction is Zihuatanejo's well-protected bay, where you can find magnificent beaches to relax in a beautiful scenery.
5 kilometers away from Zihuatanejo is the tourist resort Ixtapa, which seems like a miniature of the mundane Acapulco. In 15 minutes distance stretches the endless beach of Troncones and about 30 minutes' ride it is to the famous beaches and wild reserve lagoons near Barra de Potosi. All sights are easily accessible by car, taxi or bus.
Other attractions include some of the most beautiful gorges: Playa la Ropa, Playa Madera, Las Gatas, Playa Principal as well as a flea and street market: Mercado de Artesanias and the King's Reef.
