Molde, Moldefjord / Norway

The city of Molde - about 25,000 inhabitants - (province of Romsadal) is located on the north bank of the Romsdalsfjord. The main occupation of the inhabitants is the traditional industry, in particular the production of furniture and fluorescent tubes. Molde is also called the city of roses, because here due to the climate still grow roses, which actually have their growth limit further south. Chestnut, maple, linden and ash also grow here.

The construction subtance of the city is mainly recent since Molde was largely destroyed in 1940 as the last headquarters of the Norwegian king Haakon VII. by German bombs. Visitor coming by ship immediately notice the Rica Seilet Hotel built in the shape of a sail. Other attractions include the church, the Open- Air Museum Romsdal and the Fishing Ice Museum.Who wants to see the city from above must go up to the about 400-m-high Varde hill.
