Hardy Reef, Whitsundays / Australia

The Hardy Reef is located 80 km off the Australian east coast of the state of Queensland. It is part of the Great Barrier Reef which is composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and about 1,000 islands and due to its this impressive dimensions is even visible to the naked eye from space. In October 1981, the entire reef system was declared by UNESCO a world nature heritage.

The Hardy Reef is a paradise for divers and snorkelers. In its shallow water areas one encounters a spectacular fish world with trumpet fish, groupers, clownfish, lionfish and many more. Also impressive is the coral-rich slope that descends steeply to a depth of 30 meters below water.
