Novi Sad / Serbien
Novi Sad is the capital of Vojvodina. It has approximately 400,000 inhabitants, making it thus the second largest city in Serbia. It is located directly on the Danube.
The main attraction of the town is the ancient fortress Peterwardein (Petrovaradin). It was built between 1692-1780 and was an important bastion and coordination center for the Turks for centuries. Other interesting sights on the ride on the Danube are the legendary old towns that were unfortunately partly of fully destroyed.
