Port Elizabeth, Bequia / Caribbean
Bequia is with 18 km² the largest island of the Grenadines and part of the state of St. Vincent. The name means "island of the clouds" in the language Arawak of the original population but which is seldom a true term. The name is pronounced somewhat surprisingly as "BECK-way". Bequia has a small airport, which is flown to from other islands of the region, including Barbados and St. Lucia, and the harbor of Port Elizabeth.
The port of Port Elizabeth is located in the west of the city and is a popular port for yachts and a starting point for sailing trips. A ferry connects the main town Port Elizabeth with the other islands of the Caribbean. In the city are many restaurants and bars, in the surrounding area always beautiful and rugged mountains and interesting rock formations, which to hike through is an experience. Whale watching is possible during a boat ride.
To the south of the island, Friendship Bay offers better swim opportunities than the beaches around Port Elizabeth.
