Skagen / Denmark
Skagen is Denmark's northernmost city, located on the east coast of the country's northernmost peninsula, namely Skagen's Horn. In the city everything is about the sea: from fishing and fish processing companies live most of the approximately 10,000 inhabitants, moreover Skagen is port town and seaside resort thus surrounded by beautiful sand beaches.
Of course, one of the most popular activities in Skagen is to bathe, swim or just relax. But there are also unique sights such as the Skagen Museum, where the Impressionist works of the so-called "Skagenmaler" are exhibited, or the curious Tilsandete Church. This medieval church was blown by a shifting dune so that today only the top of the church tower stands out of the sand. The most important landmark of the city is the lighthouse, as well as the so-called "Grenen", the northernmost tip of the Skagen Horn, wherefrom one can see the confluence of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea very beautifully. In addition, the surroundings are breathtaking with their shallow beaches, the soft nature and the brick houses - just completely relaxing!
