Barca d'Alva / Portugal

Since the 80s, after the construction of 5 dams, the river has been transformed here into a succession of quiet lakes. Marvel at the many locks and boat lifts and you will be enchanted by the unspoilt nature through which the Douro winds.
From the Spanish-Portuguese border to the area of ​​Régua the areas around the Douro are the strictly delimited production area of ​​Port wine.
Earlier the wine was brought to Porto with special boats, the Rabelos, to the wine cellar on the opposite bank.
