Founded in 1140, it was raised to episcopal see in 1542. The church was built during a construction period of over 700 years and offers exceptional architectural features. In its interior, the church houses a historic organ. Even some suburbs of Bristol including Clifton and Redland are, due to their numerous old houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, of interest for visitors.
