Havøysund ("straight at the sea island") is the administrative center of the northern Norwegian municipality Måsøy, located in the administration district of Finnmark. The village is located on the island Havøya ("Sea Island"). Havøysund was first mentioned in 1668 on a tax list. Today the place has about 1,200 inhabitants. Since time immemorial, people here live mainly from fishing, which has gained national importance, especially since World War II. Since 1988 Havøysund is connected to the mainland by a bridge.

Near the village one can marvel at the largest seabird colonies in northern Norway, the Hjelmsøystauren. Nearby is also the northernmost wind farm in the world, consisting of 16 wind turbines with an overall performance of 40 MW. Even the northernmost birch forest of the earth, is said to be found here in Havøysund. Generally the vegetation in this very northern region consists mainly of lichens, mosses and a few low shrubs. Trees are a rarity here.
