Linz / Austria
Linz on the Danube is Austria's third largest city. It was long known as the "Steel City", but also offers culture.
The landmark of Linz, the pilgrimage church on the Pöstlingberg, already welcomes visitors arriving at the port. Up runs a small and very steep path. Next to the church there is here above the city a grotto train by which one can take a short tour. But if you first remain on the water, you quickly get to the main square with the Holy Trinity Column from 1728. This is the ideal starting point for a city tour on which the old and the new dome, the St. Stephen's Cathedral and the romantic parish church should not be missed. But in no case should the visitor miss the Linz Castle Schloss and the Martin Church: both go back down to the early Middle Ages. Who then is more in a mundane mood, should treat themselves on the country road to a stroll or relax here in the side streets in a cafe.
