Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) / Spain
The city of Puerto del Rosario is located on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura and has about 30,000 inhabitants. The port is the center of the city and has long been called "Puerto de Carbas", meaning goat port, because of the many goats living here. For a long time, the harbor served commerce, nowadays it is mainly a passenger port. Here is a new waterfront promenade.
In the center are some sights, including the church Nuestra Señora del Rosario, a small park and the Casa Museo Miguel de Unamuno dedicated to the writer. In addition, some hermit locks can be found in the surrounding area. These are, however, just a few of the interesting buildings that you will find in Puerto del Rosario.
If you are looking for more relaxation, the beach south of the city, the Playa Blanca is the right place. However, there are often strong currents here. But for sunbathing the beach is splendid.
