The most important monument of Sibenik is certainly the splendid cathedral Sv. Jakov with the large dome. The construction was begun in the 15th century and completed in 1555. In the long construction period various builders worked at the church, which is why they are today characterized by different styles, by Italian and Croatian styles.
Opposite is the square of the republic with the former town hall and the Rector's Palace. The small alleyways of the romantic old town are worth a walk, the lively market also offers something for everyone.
