Panama City is the capital and largest city of the state of the same name. The town was already founded in the 16th century and remains of the ruins are still visible. But it was not until the construction of the Panama Canal that the city experienced a significant boom. Today, the city has become a metropolis with a modern skyline. Fom the pier it is best to take a taxi or a bus to get around the city.

Of course, the Panama Canal with its various locks is the main attraction of the city. Also worth seeing are the ruins town with the old buildings, or the Casco Viejo, very nicely located on the canal with Supreme Court, the church of Francis of Assisi and (if interested) a museum about the history of the canal. For those who prefer shopping will enjoy the Avenida central or the Via Espana. Here there are not only sufficient shops, but also a lot of Panamanian flair.
And if you are longing for some relaxation in the lively city, you should take a taxi to one of the beautiful beaches outside the city and relax in the warm sun.
