Before the cruise

Board languages
On-board languages are German and English.
Drones
The private use of drones is generally not permitted aboard the luxury cruise ships. This applies during the cruise and while in port as well as at landing sites in remote regions. In polar regions, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises attaches great importance to complying with international agreements to protect sensitive nature and, in particular, wildlife. Therefore, the use of drones on land is strictly prohibited in these areas. In other regions of the world, any use of drones on land is subject to the relevant authorities, who must explicitly approve it. These applications are to be submitted individually by the passenger and without the mediation of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. In addition to a drone driver's license, which users must acquire in their country of origin, the relevant permit must be able to be presented at any time. Please take this information seriously, because passengers who violate these regulations and authorization requirements are liable to prosecution.  
Embarkation / disembarkation
Embarkation can begin in all ports approximately two hours before departure - usually starting from 16.00 o'clock. In all departure ports worldwide, the official embarkation time ends at 18:00 unless the departure time is earlier, as per the schedule. If you arrive at the port later than 18:00 Hapag-Lyod Cruises will ask you to inform them in advance if you have booked your arrival individually and not via Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
For safety reasons a photo is taken of each guest upon embarkation. Disembarkation usually takes place between 08.00 and 10.00. All departing guests must have left the ship for regulatory reasons until the disembarkation has ended. You will receive the exact arrival and disembarkation times with your travel documents.
Umbrellas / parasols
If it rains or the sun shines very strongly, you are offered large, practical umbrellas/parasols in the gangway. After returning on board, you can simply return them in the gangway.
Individual arrival and departure
Please take into account for your own arrival and departure the arrival respectively departure times of the ship and plan sufficient time for transfers to / from the port It is advisable to arrive at the pier at least two hours before the ship leaves the port.
The departure from the pier can be scheduled no earlier than 90 minutes after arrival of the ship and the official release. Please understand that the regulations in the ports are different and that in some circumstances unforeseen delays may occur. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises does not assume any liability.
Guests with mobility restrictions
Some of the cruises on the EUROPA 2 are not suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Please note that many of the planned landings with the Zodiacs and also the land activities require a high level of physical fitness, so that participation can only be guaranteed if there are no mobility restrictions.
The EUROPA 2 has two suites (Suite 811 and 813) that are barrier-free. Nevertheless, it is definitely recommended to do travel with a responsible companion, as due to the special processes aoard a ship, care is not possible. Certain groups of people can only travel together with an escort.
Please bring your own standard wheelchair or other medical equipment if you require it. Unfortunately, electric wheelchairs and assistance dogs cannot be taken along.
Please note that participation in shore activities and  disembarkation by zodiac (weather permitting) may prove impossible for guests with physical disabilities.The cruise line reserves the right to make participation in group activities dependent on the ability to complete the entire activity without external help. Unfortunately, Hapag-Lyod Cruises cannot provide transportation by Zodiac for guests who are dependent on a wheelchair.
Disembarking by tender boats (when the ship is at anchor) also depends on the weather conditions and cannot always be guaranteed. To ensure that you experience a relaxing and smooth cruise, please clarify upon booking whether your individual needs can be met.
Luggage regulation
The valid baggage regulations for your flights can be found on the flight confirmation that Hapag-Lyod Cruises sends after booking or releasing the flights. The amount of the free baggage allowance may vary on the outbound and return ride due to the transportation by different airlines and therefore is based on the main respectively section of the journey with the lowest free baggage allowance.

On flights booked via Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, the baggage regulations of the respective airline apply at the time of departure (please note that changes may occur even after the booking).
International health and safety regulations generally limit the maximum weight per item of luggage to 32 kg and the maximum size
158 cm (width + height + depth). Also the hand luggage may not exceed the given dimensions at the security control.
Larger, heavier or additional pieces of luggage should be reported at least seven days prior to departure as paid excess baggage directly via the website of the operating airline (direct payment by credit card).

Clothing recommendations
On board
There is no set dress code aboard the EUROPA 2 during the day.
In the evening, however, gentlemen at the restaurants on deck 4 and in the sushi restaurant Sakura wear elegant, sporty clothing, i.e. jackets or summer suits - shorts and T-shirts are not desired. A tie is not necessary.
At
the Yacht Club restaurant, it is not necessary to wear a jacket in the evening.

On land
For your excursions or private shore excursions, clothing should always be comfortable and practical and adapted to the route. Sturdy shoes are recommended, flat shoes are essential for ship and land. For excursions by the Zodiacs, especially in colder regions, it is recommended to wear waterproof clothing to protect against moisture.

Food intolerances / dietary food
Food intolerances are taken into account as far as possible and depending on availability. Please inform us of your wishes upon booking. For everyone who likes to eat health-consciously, we offer reduced-calorie dishes every day.
Travel information/ travel documents
About three months before the start of your journey, you will receive more detailed information as well as shore activity program with prices. After receipt of the remaining payment, you will receive your travel documents approximately four weeks before the start of the journey.
Electricity
All electrical appliances in your suite work with 230 V AC. A voltage converter to connect your 110 V devices to the European AC power supply as well as adapters for German and foreign plug connectors are available at the reception.
Means of paymnent on board
Hapag Lyod-Cruises has opted for cashless payment transactions aboard the EUROPA 2. The on-board currency is the euro. The cruise  company accepts the German Girokarte and the following credit cards: MasterCard, American Express and Visa.

If you wish, you can simply sign the bills for drinks and tobacco products in the lounges and bars as well as for the laundry, boutique, shore excursions, photo and film service and OCEAN SPA during the cruise and they will be charged to your onboard account.

You can find out about your current account balance at any time via the guest portal or at  the reception. The total bill will be settled at the reception at the end of your cruise. You can use the above means of payment, but also pay cash.

During the cruise

Dialysis (MS EUROPE 2)
The fully equipped hemodialysis station has the latest, reliable technology and its own osmosis system. This guarantees dialysis just like at home - without higher treatment costs. The cruise line schedules your dialysis times so that you don't miss anything from your cruise - no port and no land activities. An experienced dialysis doctor and a competent nursing team guarantee the best medical care at all times.
E-Mail
Receiving and sending e-mails (up to 1 MB) is free. On the BREMEN you can receive and send e-mails free of charge via the onboard "guest portal". There are four public PCs available for this purpose at the internet and e-mail center. On the HANSEATIC, you can use the onboard communication system to receive and send e-mails directly from your cabin. You will receive your personal e-mail address with your travel confirmation.

Please note that in extreme areas, such as the Northeast Passage, the Arctic and the Antarctic, satellite-based reception and sending of emails may not be available on a daily basis.
Family apartment with connecting door
On deck 8 there are a total of seven family apartments, each consisting of two units connected by an intermediate door.
Medical services
The EUROPA 2 has a modernly equipped ship hospital under the direction of an experienced ship physician. Guests who undergo medical treatment, please contact the ship's physician directly after embarkation. You should take the necessary medication in sufficient quantity in your hand luggage. The treatment is carried out free of charge as a result of an accident caused by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises or its employees on board or during a shore activity organized by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The treatment of seasickness is subject to charge, provided that you use medical services. On board, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises offers a thrombosis prophylaxis (if required). For medical services, a fee is charged according to the applicable doctor's fee schedule (GOÄ). The costs for treatment and medicines will be settled through your bank account. At the end of the cruise you will receive a separate invoice for your health insurance. On selected cruises a dialysis doctor is available upon request.
Beds
All suites are equipped with two adjacent beds. In addition, the sofa can be used as a sleeping possibility for a third person. The seating area varies from 70 x 240 cm (Owner Suites) to 70 x 205 cm (Grand Ocean Suites), 70 x 190 cm (usable for up to 15 years, in Penthouse and Grand Penthouse Suites) and 70 x 175 cm, can be used up to a maximum of 12 years, in Veranda suites) up to a lying area of approx. 70 x 160 cm (usable up to a maximum of 10 years, in handicap - friendly suites) and approx. 70 x 140 cm (usable for up to max.6 years in Ocean Suites). Family apartments are not equipped with a sofa.
Library / PC seats
Almost everything your "reading heart" desires, can be found at the Belvedere Library and can be borrowed at any time free of charge. In addition, there are  four PC workstations available with a printer. Moreover, each suite is equipped with a tablet.
Board ID
At the start of the cruise, you will receive an onboard pass, which you must carry with you every time you go ashore. It is often used as a substitute for the passport when going on anf offboard the ship (e.g. for shore activities) and is checked by the security system. The system registers electronically whether you are on board or ashore.        
Board newspaper *
Upon request,a large selection of full editions of national and international newspapers can be printed digitally for a fee. The newspapers will be delivered to your suite in the morning or according to their publication time. If you are interested, please contact the reception on Deck 4. You will also find iat the EUROPA 2 guest portal, which you can access using your own mobile device or the tablet in your suite a free onboard edition of "Die Welt" or an alternative short edition. You can also find here other selected newspapers and magazines (some of which are subject to a charge)

Boutique and jeweler
The boutique offers a wide range of exclusive women's and men's fashion, toiletries and gift items as well as souvenirs. Please note that many countries' customs regulations prohibit opening the boutique in ports. The WEMPE jewelery shop presents high-quality watches, selected pieces of jewelery and flawless diamonds.
Bridge
Due to its outstanding importance as a control center, the ship bridge is a very sensitive area for all nautical and technical procedures. For this reason it is not publicly available according to international regulations. However, the cruise line will gladly provide you with the opportunity to visit the bridge, as far as nautical interests or local regulations of the respective coastal countries do not prevent this. 
Butler
Guests of the Owner Suites, Grand Penthouse Suites and Penthouse Suites are offered a butler service. The butler will take care of packing and unpacking your luggage, serves food and drinks in your suite, takes over the ironing your wardrobe and much more.
E-Mail*
Through the guest portal, your personal e-mail inbox will be available to you while traveling on the EUROPA 2. You can receive, send and forward e-mails. This service is free. To open or send attachments, you need to connect to your webmailer.

* This service may not always be guaranteed due to a possible unstable satellite link, which depends on the weather and position of the vessel, especially in northern and southern navigation areas.

Tv / radio program*
Via satellite you receive the program from the region in which the EUROPA 2 is currently located - within reach of Europe you can look forward to German-language broadcasts. Deutsche Welle's TV program is available wherever possible.

In addition to the usual functions, the television and tablet in your suite have a diverse entertainment and information system (guest portal). This gives you access to a large selection of films and music of many different styles at any time and gives you detailed information about your cruise. You can also view your onboard account, send and receive emails and much more.
 
Photographer / film crew
Each cruise has a photographer on board, taking pictures taking pictures on board and ashore during the journey. Upon request, he also prints your own photos on photo paper or burns your digital photos on DVD (fee-based service). There is also a video producer on board who will record your journey in a movie for you. You can buy photos and film.

Internet*
Via the guest portal you have direct internet access. In addition, the entire ship is equipped with Wi-Fi hotspots that allow you to use the Internet wirelessly with a laptop, your private mobile phone or the tablet in your suite. Use of the internet is free for one hour per guest per day.

Child care as of 2 years
For children from the age of 2 years, trained child carerginers travel with you and organize both special children's events on board and excursions for children and teens. The care times for children from 4 years are usually from 09.00. to 17.00  and from 18.30. to 22.00  The care times for young people from the age of 11 are usually from 09.00. to 17.00. and from 06.30 to 21..00 Games, sports and creative programs are offered during this time.
The Kids Club and Teens Club are special rooms for supervised play, some of which are also accessible outside of childcare hours and are equipped to suit the respective age groups. Childcare in the Knopf Club for children from 2 to 3 years is available for a fee of €65 per day and is offered during the following childcare times: from 09.00 to 17.00 and, as part of bedtime care, from 18.30. to 22.00. Registration for the Knopf Club is required before the start of the cruise.
On sea days, Hapag-Lyod Cruises offers the so-called late riser service for parents as part of childcare, i.e. children from the age of 2 are picked up in the suite and go to one of the restaurants for breakfast together. Hapag-Lyod Cruises also offers special shore activities for children and teens on family cruises (for a fee).
Moreover, Hapag-Lyod Cruises will provide a babysitter for the evening hours (subject to availability and for a fee) via Chef Nanny. Please note that there are no pool attendants on board and the use of the pool is at your own risk.

Air conditioning
The suites and the common rooms are 100% air-conditioned. The temperature in your suite can be adjusted individually. The air conditioner cannot be switched off.
Minibar
Soft drinks and beer in the minibars of the suites are included in the travel price. In the Owner Suites, Grand Penthouse Suites, Penthouse Suites and Grand Ocean Suites you are also offered  high-quality spirits free of charge.
OCEAN SPA
The use of sauna and steam bath is free of charge. In addition, the OCEAN SPA (for a fee) offers you a complete wellness program - from soothing treatments from all over the world to cosmetic treatments with the highest-quality active ingredients and hairdressing. Reservations are only possible on board. For an extra charge, you can book a private personal SPA per hour or per day, featuring a sauna, private jacuzzi, massage tables and relaxing facilities.
Mail
In most ports, your postcards and letters are dropped off by the front desk. Your suite account will be charged with the respective postage fee.

Smoking
All restaurants are non-smoking restaurants. The theater, the Belvedere, the foyer and the Club 2 as well as the entire OCEAN SPA area are also non-smoking areas. Smoking is allowed on the outdoor terrace of Zanzibar, while Zanzibar's indoor area is non-smoking. Cigars, cigarillos and pipes can only be smoked in the Collins (also during the day) and in the outdoor area of the Zanzibar.
Please note that smoking is not allowed in the suites. On the veranda smoking is allowed. Smoking is not permitted on the pool deck under the Magrodome. All other outdoor decks are smoking areas. Smokers are required to use only the provided ashtrays.

Travel concierge
The Travel Concierge will gladly advise you on individual land and flight arrangements, organizes your personal  desired program and takes care of all the necessary bookings (for a fee).
Safe
Each suite has a private safe for safekeeping of valuables. Other valuables can be deposited in the safe at the reception.
Stabilizers
The ship is equipped with state-of-the-art Blohm + Voss stabilizers that can be deployed on sideways swells and weaken the ship's rolling motion in rough seas.
Suites
Each suite has an optically separated living area (not in family apartments and disabled-friendly suites). In the Owner Suites and the Grand Penthouse Suites, living and sleeping areas are also spatially separated. All suites offer TV with Media4Cruises, Tablet PC, telephone, minibar, hairdryer, safe and a Nespresso machine. Suites above Club 2 (501 - 513) and below Zanzibar (762 - 769) may be affected by the entertainment program.
Suites with connecting doors
On deck 6, deck 7 and deck 8 are a total of 19 veranda suites, which can be connected by a connecting door with their neighboring suite should you prefer separate bedrooms. 
Suite service
In your suite, the service with selected cold and hot dishes as well as beverages from the bar menu is also available 24 hours a day.
Telecommunications * / mobile phone *
Your ship is equipped with a modern satellite communication system. If the connection to the news satellite is available locally, this allows a direct telephone connection worldwide. Conversely, a direct telephone connection on board is possible. Please note that dialing the telephone number of the EUROPA 2 is already charged to the caller. The exact charges for a satellite telephone call on board can be obtained from your telephone provider; Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has no influence.
The mobile network of WMS, a provider of mobile phone systems aboard cruise liners and airplanes allows you to use your mobile phone at sea in an area where your mobile service provider can generally no longer provide a network (fee-based service, prices vary depending on on your mobile operator).

* This service may not always be guaranteed due to a possible unstable satellite link, which depends on the weather and position of the vessel, especially in northern and southern areas.
Tender and Zodiac service
In all ports where the EUROPA 2 lies at anchor, disembarkation takes place, if possible by the ship's own tender boats or motorized inflatable boats (Zodiacs). Please note that for safety reasons, traveling by the Zodiac requires a minimum age of 6 years.
Table seat reservation
Breakfast and lunch aboard of EUROPA 2 takes place in open seating You have free seat choice. The same applies for dinner ty the restaurant Weltmeere and the Yacht Club Restaurant. The Maître will be pleased to accept table seat requests for dinner at the specialty restaurants (Serenissima, Tarragon including Grande Réserve, Elements, Sushi Restaurant Sakura) right at the beginning of your journey. Reservations prior to departure are not possible.
Unfortunately the cruise line cannot make table reservations for travels of less than 7 days. For guests of the Owner Suites and Grand Penthouse Suites different regulations apply.
Gratuities
Gratuities are not compulsory on board. The recognition of a particularly good service is optional for each guest.
Laundry, cleaning and ironing service
EUROPA 2 has a fee-based laundry, cleaning and ironing service. In the Owner Suites, the Grand Penthouse Suites, the Grand Ocean Suites and the Penthouse Suites, a ironing service is included.
