The squarely laid-out inner city with about 1.1 million inhabitants is similar to that of Melbourne and Christchurch (New Zealand). It has been planned from the outset as a business district. Adelaide is held in strict architecture and is surrounded by the leisurely flowing Torrens River. A few years ago Adelaide was rather dull and puritanical. With the arrival of the artists scene in North Adelaide, this picture has however changed fundamentally and Adelaide is getting increasingly cosmopolitan.
The suburb Glenelg comes very close to the English models. Old residential houses, snug inns and many restaurants characterize this place. The beaches are from Marino to Osborn invite for a swim. The beach at Glenelg is just one part of the many kilometer-long beach. Maslin Beach is one of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in the country. The beautiful countryside is reminiscent of a lunar landscape. On the one side the sea and on the other a jagged rock landscape. Another plus is an attractive hinterland, for example, the forested low mountain range of the Adelaide Hills and the Mount Lofty Range.

Auckland lies on the North Island of New Zealand and is the largest city in the state. She has around half a million inhabitants. Although it is not capital, the council meeting has its headquarters in Auckland. As everywhere in New Zealand the culture is very cosmopolitan also in Auckland, as there have always been immigrants from Europe, America and the Pacific States whose culture has mixed with the indigenous Maori culture. The city is located in front of a volcanic backdrop and between two bays - a characteristic image.
Canberra with its 350,000 inhabitants is the capital of Australia and at the same time the largest city within the continent. The planned city, whose construction began in 1913 arose as a compromise, because the rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney to the capital status failed to reach solution. On May 9, 1927 Canberra finally became official capital.
Brisbane is the state capital of Queensland in northeast Australia.
The city lies on the Brisbane River near its estuary mouth with the Coral Sea, with 1.73 million inhabitants (in the metropolitan area). Brisbane was founded in 1824 as a penal colony and is named after the then Ggvernor of New South Wales, Sir Thomas Brisbane.

A touch of Viktoria, a touch Venezia - Christchurch (about 370,000 inhabitants) is because of its neo-gothic buildings, its numerous parks and lovingly laid-out gardens, as the "most English city outside of England '.
Dubai is an emirate in the Arabian Peninsula. It has the only natural port in the Persian Gulf. There between rugged mountains and breathtaking desert dunes are wide, white up to 70-km-long sandy beaches by an emerald sea. Dubai has a deep, long estuary that gave the area the nickname "Venice of the Gulf".
Dunedin is a Scottish city outside Scotland. It was founded in the mid 19th century by Scots and is the second largest city of the island. The Victorian, Edwardian as well as Flemish style can be found in its cityscape.
The Fiordland National Park, with over 12,500 km2 is the largest national park in New Zealand. It covers most of Fiordland and the southwestern tip of the South Island. The park was laid out in 1952 and is until today the most inaccessible part of the country. In 1990 it was declared a UNESCO world nature heritage. Tourist attractions are mainly its fjords. Fiordland is one of the most sparsely populated regions of New Zealand. One of the greatest towns is Te Anau with about 2,000 inhabitants.
Hobart (220,000 inhabitants), Tasmania's capital is located at the mouth of the Derwent River, at the foot of the 1,270-m-high Mount Wellington, in the south of the island. This seafaring town is after Sydney, the second oldest city in Australia and also its most historic. In 1804 it was founded by Lieutenant-Colonel David Collins with about 300 condemned as convict colony. Already at the beginning of the 20th century the first electric trams rode here. In addition to the seaport and the tourism the city also lives from its food, non-ferrous metal and textile industries. In 1890 the University of Tasmania was founded.
Honiara is the capital of the independent island nation of the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean. It lies on the north coast of Guadalcanal, at the mouth of the river Matanika. The 36,900-inhabitant city extends mainly along a narrow coastal strip on a harbor bay. Accordingly there are only two main roads through the town. Even before the founding of the city at this point a bloody battle took place during World War II: the battle of Guadalcanal. The natural harbor of the present town was named Iron Bottom Sound after the roughly 50 warships that were sunk here during the fights between Americans and Japanese.
Melbourne, Australia's second largest city with 3 million inhabitants is the capital of the state of Victoria, located at Port Phillip Bay and the mouth of the Yarra River. The area where the city is located was first explored by Europeans in 1803. In addition, In 1835, rival groups from Tasmania settled and gave it the name Port Phillip. In contrast to other settlements in South-East Australia, Melbourne was never a penal colony, but was designed from the outset as a residential area with wide roads and expansive parks. In 1837 the city received its present name in honor of the then Prime Minister of Great Britain, William Lamb, 2nd Viscount of Melbourne. After the establishment of the Australian Federal Republic in 1901, Melbourne was temporarily the seat of the Australian Federal Government. In 1913, Canberra became the new federal capital, but the government moved to it only in 1927. In 1956, the Olympic Summer Games took place in Melbourne.
The Milford Sound stretches 15 kilometers from the Tasmanian Sea into the country and is surrounded by up to 1,200-m- high rock walls. On these sides a rain forest grows, while seals, penguins and dolphins populate the water. The highest elevation is the Miter Peak (bishop hat) with 1,692 meters. The Milford Sound was named after the Welsh village of Milford Haven.
